Filled my tummy with the Garam samosa and green chutney and started towards Chanderi.Bhopal - Vidisha - Mungaoli - Chanderi...Roads are good except few small patches in between.Bad patches are only in the town areas and where the bridge construction is going on.Rest of the road is freshly laid tarmac with no potholes at all.I reached Chanderi by afternoon and weather was still foggy.
To beat the cold,I stopped at a tea shop and pretty soon my 390 was mobbed by the local public.

One of the entry gate to the town

Located strategically on the borders of Malwa and Bundelkhand Chanderi area has been a major center of Jain culture.Passing through the narrow lanes and busy market of Chanderi.I reached 'Raja-Rani ka Mahal'.This palace was buit in 15th century.Later on Bundela king Durjan singh and Anirudhha singh provided it grandeur by adding a garden and a temple.

This palace was deserted and most of it's part were in ruins. But the left over's were quite a beauty and the architecture was pretty good too.
Next was Badal Mahal Darwaza. It was more of a iconic monument rather than a actual gate.Photos of this gate can be seen in many postal stamps and specially on the hand woven sarees for which Chanderi is famous.

This version of gate i found it on the Chanderi Fort hanged on one of the wall

As i come out at the parking,I see this kid looking curiously to me and my bike. Then he wanted to pose and have a photo clicked

Route to Chanderi fort was little bit ahead from the town.It was constructed during the Mughal period and is also known as Kirti Durg. The fort offers a spectacular view of the city.Unfortunately it was still fogged up when i reached the top.The vast fort was built on a 200 metre high hill . Its main gate is known as the "Khooni Darwaza".

The Khooni Darwaza we were talking about.

Fort is in very bad shape, but the good news is..Its renovation work is going on,so in couple of months..it will as good as new
.Saw these photos hanging on the wall of the forts.
Shehzadi ka Rauza - A very interesting story this tomb has.Attributed to the 15th century, this tomb was built by the then Hakim or governor of Chanderi in the memory of his daughter Mehrunissa. The story behind the memorial goes that Mehrunissa had fallen in love with the chief of the army. Her father, however, was against the alliance and decided on drastic action when his requests went unheeded. The army was to go to battle soon, so he hired some soldiers and asked them to make sure that the commander did not return alive from the battlefield. The commander was grievously injured but he somehow escaped and managed to ride back to Chanderi. His strength finally gave way and he fell from his horse at the exact spot where the memorial now stands. When Mehrunissa heard of the tragedy, she rushed to find her lover but when she reached his side he had already succumbed to his wounds. Unable to bear this sorrow, she ended her life as well, right beside him.
The Hakim had loved his daughter dearly and he decided to bury both of them together and build the beautiful tomb. He made a pond around the tomb to make sure nobody could reach it, a metaphor for their impossible love. This pond no longer exists and the tomb is instead surrounded by farmland.

Another tomb which is in ruins

As i left Chanderi and entered Uttar Pradesh..road went bad to worse..from tar roads to no roads at all.Since it was getting dark,I wanted to cross this all and reach the next big town as soon as possible.Meanwhile saw this dam from distance and couldn't stop myself to go there and have a look. This was Rajghat reservoir.

And a moment with myself and my dear Dhanno

bad roads ended at Lalitpur and i still had some light left for the day,so i stopped for a tea break. While i was sipping tea..i met few curious onlookers who asked me many questions about the bike. While i was leaving i was having some 'Rajnigandha'..these guys saw me and came back to me and bought me few packets of 'Rajnigandha' for free as a token of friendship.I denied their offer politely but since they insisted many times..I had to keep it.From Lalitpur i got on the 4 laned highway which goes to Jhansi. This road is not yet finished and 5-10 kms before jhansi..road work is still in progress.Traffic sense of the people riding on this road is very bad..even though its four laned..people tend to ride/drive on wrong side of the road and that too on the Main Right lane of the traffic.I was going 90-100 on the highway on the right lane and suddenly i saw a bike coming on full speed towards me,i had to quickly dodge onto the left lane...or it would have been a fatal crash.
I reached Jhansi and found a hotel to stay..But a big problem happened " I submitted my only ID proof driving license at the hotel in Omkareshwar and i forgot to take it back".And i got to know that after two bloody days i left Omkareshwar. For the hotel in Jhansi..I showed my bike's paper as the ID proof and hotel owner was okay to give me the room for the night. For getting the license back,i called the hotel owner in omakareshwar to courier my license to Delhi at my brothers address.
After sorting everything,I had dinner and crashed to bed.
Cheers
