Day 1 - Hyderabad - Zaheerabad - Gulbarga - Jevargi - Sindagi - Bijapur
With an amazing birthday party weekend at Suryalanka beach,it was time for me to bid adieu and leave back to Pune with slight diversions and sight seeing enroute

.Plan of visiting dudhsagar was going on from long time and after missing it for last two years, finally all of us(pune gang) made it to Dudhsagar this year.Every year someone or other has some other plans, office, girlfriends or no leaves..this time we came up with no excuse policy and man-o-man what a fun ride this was

While the entire Gang was starting from Pune..I was starting up from Hyderabad. My love and fascination towards history and historical architecture is the one who took me to Bijapur and Gulbarga.I was riding very easy and relaxed as i had entire day today and half day tomorrow..just to reach Belgaum to meet the rest of the lot.
Road condition till Zaheerabad was good and beyond that it was full of Potholes.Every vehicle plying on the route were driving/riding zig-zag forcing each other to fall in hell-hole of rim bend

.My dhanno survived all this and we went off the Hyderabad-Solapur highway to move towards Gulbarga.Road condition became much much better.
I reached Gulbarga and stopped for tea, main purpose of stopping was to inquire about the the must visit places.Chai wala and other folks came up with two suggestions..'Gulbarga Fort' and 'Tombs of Shamshah-al-din,Ghiyas-al-din etc'
First on the list were the tombs,as they were on the way as you enter the city

These are the tombs of Shams-Al-Din,Ghiyas-Al-Din and Dawood shah. One cannot go inside as the doors were locked and some patch up work was on progress.
Some history about these sultans as stated in the ASI boards at the site.Shams-al-din was a weak ruler, who was forced to step down due to internal strife. He was blinded and then allowed to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca where he died in 1378 AD.His brother Ghiyas-Al-Din succeeded him but was also overthrown and blinded after being in power for mere 1 month and 26 days. The tombs of these short-reigning sultans are built as they are one building.Sharing the same basement ,they both shows tuglaqh influences in the battlements that line the roof placed at each corner.
