Day 2 - Omkareshwar
Entire day was dedicated to Omkareshwar. For a change 'Eat/Relax/Walk/Take A boat ride/Visit Temple' was the agenda for today.Since i slept early yesterday,i was ready to roll early in the morning.I just started walking casually in the market and went upto the jhula (Bridge on Narmada) to get information about getting around and places to visit. The Jhula term for bridge i have picked up from Rishikesh, where they call these bridges as Laxman Jhoola/Ram Jhoola etc. After collecting most of the information and taking some photos,i returned to the hotel to take bath and visit Omkareshwar Temple.
Morning was bit foggy

From the other side of the Bridge.Vehicles..not even two wheeler's are allowed on any of these two bridges.

I was in full mood of taking a dip in Narmada, but my allergy towards cold water was keeping me away from doing it.And then the hotel owner pitched-in and helped me.He says "Sir hamare yaha Narmada ji ka hi paani aata he,Gyser me garam karke naha lo".That was actually a much better idea minus the feeling and importance of doing it at the banks of Narmada.
Small and lazy town, relaxed life,no rush, narrow lanes,Simple people, tasty food and an essence of simplicity in each and everything around you.
Making my way towards the Narmada Ghat

From luxury accommodations to the budget accommodations.A dharamshala in Omkareshwar

This time i did not took the Jhula's to cross over to the other side.I went to the Ghat and took a sharing boat for 20 Rs,It was a no bargain deal in case of sharing the boat

From the other side

I reached temple and got bugged by many Pundit's to do the rituals for 300 to 1000 bucks. Many of them bargained and gave me a last rate of 50 bucks. This gets so much annoying sometimes, all you want is a glimpse of bholenath in peace. In the name of rituals, they plunder money from the poor and innocent peoples :/.Its a real shame to have such people at such places.I am not totally against the rituals, but it is important that they should not be forced on someone..It should happen other way,if somebody requires it to be done..he should approach a counter from where the Pundit should be allotted.
Queue wasn't too long inside the temple,so it took hardly 15 mins to complete the darshan.I returned back to Narmada ghat to cross back to the other side.
Nice place to hang out

I reached on the other side and climbed this hill to get a better view from the top.

While you are at this side,Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga temple should not be missed. The correct name is the Amreshwar temple. It is a protected Ancient Monument with good architectural stone work. Since the time of Maharani Ahilyabai holkar.

Streets are filled with these kind of nicely decorated shops.

I returned back to hotel and packed up my stuff for the journey ahead. But before we leave,i wanted to have a good look of the entire town. So,I returned back to the MP tourism hotel and did what i wanted to do

As i leave the town,i was sipping my last tea here and suddenly i saw my favorite stuff 'BHAANG'

It was for just 10 rs per piece, sad i couldn't had any because i had to ride ahead. While returning i tool the correct route via mortakka, which was in much better shape.80 Kms from Barwah to Indore was in good shape too, this road goes from couple of ghat and jungle area. But,by the traffic on the road..you won't feel that you are passing by from such areas.I reached Indore, initial plan was to stay here and catch up with friends. But i had half day left with me,and i was more inclined towards staying in Bhopal.Indore bypass was completely dugged up,as they constructing flyover's at junctions.Indore to Bhopal was smooth journey as the road has been four laned all the way till Bhopal.Reached bhopal and first thing i did was 'satisfied my taste buds'.Went to my favorite place Milan sweets in new market and had Dahi Samosa and Dahi Kachori. That taste for which i have been craving for so long, finally i had it.After completing the long To Eat list,i went to Arera colony where i was about stay for the night. Settled in and slept early to have a early start next day.
Cheers
