Woke up at 8 o clock in the morning, it was time to move my lazy arse to the next unknown destination. Plan was to hit Agra via Jaipur.Jaipur was still 270 kms. That too single lane road with average traffic.Had an heavy breakfast at the hotel where i stayed. Started for Jaipur around 8:40.Did a 200 Km nonstop stretch, took a small but break and again zoomed ahead for Jaipur.
Initially my plan was to re-visit some places in Jaipur, but then after reaching Jaipur i decided to skip it and move ahead.
From Jaipur till Agra it was smooth-wide 4 lane, so i was riding at good speed-pace. But then i encountered some super heavy rains nearby Dausa.Wore the rain suite but no use, got completely drenched for second time in this trip. In these 4 days..Encountered heavy rains in the start till Gujrat,Deadly heat in Rajasthan and now again rains..Don’t know what is ahead :| ...
It rained for approx 30 mins..Removed the rain suite and opened up the jacket chain, so that while riding everything will get quickly dried up. Reached Fathehpur Sikri by evening. Visited JAMI MASJID and the nearby fort of Akbar,Jodha and Co's.
Jami Masjid of Fatehpur Sikri is also known as Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosque in India. It was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1571, with the supervision of the Sufi saint, Sheikh Salim Chishti and his descendants.
Poser Shot :D :D
There is a vast congregational courtyard to accommodate the multitude of worshippers. It is bordered by covered corridors. The mosque consists of a central nave with a single dome, two colonnaded halls called hujra on its left and right. These halls are crowned with domes as well.
There are two entrances to the Jama Masjid. The main entrance is called Buland Darwaza which was built to commemorate his victory over Gujarat, and is the biggest of the two. The other entrance, called Badshahi Darwaza is the royal entranceway used by Emperor Akbar to enter the mosque
The tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti is also located within the Jama Masjid complex on the northern side of the courtyard. The mausoleum, constructed by Akbar as a mark of his respect for the Sufi saint, who foretold the birth of his son. Who was named Prince Salim after him and later succeeded Akbar to the throne of the Mughal Empire, as Jahangir
After sightseeing at the Jami Masjid,i moved towards the forts complex to see the Panch Mahal,Jodha Bai palace. Beautiful red sandstone architechture,Infact architecture of all these buildings has a subtle blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural designs.
Akbar had three wives..One muslim named Hujra..One christian named Miriam and Jodha Bai. Akbar loved Jodha bai most as compared to the other wives :P :D
Proof of this i saw there, Among all the palaces Jodha Bai's Palace was the largest :D :D
Panch Mahal: A five-storied palatial structure. The bottom floor has 176 intricately carved columns.
Anup Talao: A tank with a central platform and four bridges leading up to it.
Diwan - E -Khaas
Birbal's Palace...Umm dont remember exactly
MISC..
Agra was still 30+ kms from there. As soon i finished sightseeing i rushed towards Agra. Reached Agra around 7:30 in the night. Took an accommodation very close to Agra fort..2 mins walking distance. After checking -in first thing i did is..Emptied the saddle and tank bag. And spreaded everything clothes, books..etc etc..in the room for drying.
Had biryani at a nearby restaurant and slept in peace.
Cheers
Biru
