Independence Day Ride – Hyderabad-Gulbarga-Bijapur-Jog Falls-Dudhsagar Falls-Pune – Day 5

Day 5 - Molem - Belgaum - Gokak Falls - Sankeshwar - Kolhapur - Pune

The adventure for which we came was over and only return journey was remaining. We took Molem - Ramnagar - Khanapur route to reach Belgaum, from there it was a quick ride to home. While everyone was on their way home,i slipped from herd and took the diversion towards Gokak.I have been to Gokak before and was aware of its magnitude and surreal beauty. And during this time of year it would have been the best time to visit this place.

Meanwhile stopped at Hidkal dam for a quick visit.

I left Randha falls and reached Bhandardhara which was not very far from there.

Just before the Bhandardhara dam there is an exit on the left, that is the one which takes us to Sandhan Valley. But if you go straight as well, you can reach Sandhan by taking a left from Upper Ghatghar dam.Now this route is around 15-20 kms long.Road condition for both the route is like 60 percent bad and 40 percent okay with respect to bikes.I would say forget the road conditions, enjoy the beauty and scenic views these routes has to offer

Monsoon Adventure to Sandhan Valley - Grand Canyon of Maharashtra - PART 1

Have been to Sandhan valley several times and i always wondered this grand canyon of Maharashtra is so majestic in Winter season, how heavenly it will be in Monsoon season. After thinking through this thought from last two years i finally managed to visit this place in monsoon.Located on the back drops of Bhandardhara, this place is around 190 Kms from Pune. And these 190 kms feels like 400 kms due to the single lane Nashik road with too much of traffic on it

Plan was visit Sandhan and return back on the same day.So i started early morning to avoid the bad traffic at the Nashik highway.I reached Bota on NH50 (Nasik Highway) and took the exit for Bramhanwada/Kotul.

Saw these beautiful flowers in full bloom

Here are some videos of water crossing we did

Independence Day Ride – Hyderabad-Gulbarga-Bijapur-Jog Falls-Dudhsagar Falls-Pune – Day 4 - PART 2

While everyone hates trekking, beauty of the Dudhsagar was something which was pulling everyone and making them walk .With much efforts in less time we reached Dudhsagar falls. From the starting point Kulem till now, approx 10-15 kms there was nothing to drink and eat in between.Everybody was hungry like a monkey and there was only one place where food was being served..As in snacks and tea/coffee to be precise. Before we go and get lost in the beauty of Dudhsagar,we filled in our tummies so that we don't faint in process of admiring the magnificence of the mighty falls.

It was too much foggy and rains god was not even ready to take a break

Day 4 - Molem - Dudhsagar Falls - Molem

We weren't too sure where we need to start from..to reach Dudhsagar falls. And how will be the road ahead and how much trek is involved and what are the chances that we will get detained by the rain again. The hotel owner and the people around advised to go Colem and ask for the route directions from there.Meanwhile everyone gearing up and getting ready to go

We reached Colem and started asking everyone about the route to Dudhsagar and everybody pointed to a Taxi-stand/bike stand ahead. That was the stand from where people usually rent motorcycle and Local guide cum riders to reach Dudhsagar Falls. We asked to guide us to the route, but they weren't ready to point us to the right direction. Their expression and behavior was nothing unusual as we were the ones due which they suffer one their bread & butter part.Anyways we moved ahead in search of the route but no luck. And when we moved around 2-3 kms ahead one person advised that the route exit is 3 km back from here on the left, which will take us to the railway tracks.Once you are there just follow the tracks he said

We returned and found the exit and the first sight of tracks confirmed that we were on the right route.

Quick G2G ride to Kaas,Tapola and Thosegar Falls

Fellow riders Ananth and Jafarfrom Chennai had rode all the way from Chennai to Mahabaleshwar to explore the western ghats and since they did not had enough time to reach out Pune,we decided to meet at Mahabaleshwar. This called for a quick ride where we ended up riding to Tapola,Kaas and Thosegar.

Tapola(The mini Kashmir) is around 150 kms away from Pune. River Koyana and river Solshi both meet at Tapola. Can be named as perfect weekend getaway.
The Shivsager Dam in Tapola is the biggest dam in Maharashtra. Boating and other recreational activities can be done at this place. Motor Boats, Scooter riders and Speed boats can be enjoyed here at nominal charges.

Because of these Lakes, Dense Forests and other amazing things over here it is worth calling it The Mini Kashmir.
